If you’re wondering whether you can wash your kimono scrunchie, you’re not alone.
Many people love the beauty of kimono fabrics, but feel a little nervous about caring for them.So here’s a simple and honest guide from my shop.
Can a kimono scrunchie be washed?
Yes — in some cases. But it depends on the fabric.
Kimono scrunchies are often made from different materials, and each one needs slightly different care.
Cotton & sturdy fabrics
✔ Can be gently hand-washed
✔ Use cold water
✔ Mild detergent only
After washing, gently press out the water with a toweland let it air-dry in the shade.
Silk (pure silk / vintage kimono silk)
⚠ I do not recommend washing with water.
Silk is delicate and may:
lose its texture
change color
become misshapen
For silk scrunchies, it’s best to:
avoid water
keep them away from moisture
spot-clean very gently if needed
If you’re unsure, feel free to ask me before trying anything.
that said, I personally do hand-wash my silk scrunchies and hang them to dry.
Because these are small accessories, I am not overly strict about preserving the silk’s original texture.
However, this is a personal choice, and I always recommend extra care if you are concerned about changes in feel or appearance.
What you should avoid
Washing machines
Dryers
Hot water
Strong detergents
These can easily damage kimono fabrics.
A note from my shop
I choose fabrics carefully and make each scrunchie with daily life in mind.Still, kimono textiles are special — they carry time, history, and character.
If you ever have questions about care,or if something feels unclear, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Your scrunchie should be something you enjoy using, not something you worry about.
