Oji Jinja shrine

This is one of Japan's most prominent and prestigious shrines, with records of its existence dating back to at least 1322, indicating an even earlier origin.
It is rare and interesting,

In the grounds is a shrine dedicated to the "God of Hair," a rare sight in Japan. The enshrined deity is Lord Semimaru, famous for the Hyakunin Isshu poems. Legend has it that he made a wig and a haori for his sister, Princess Sakagami, and this shrine is deeply revered by those in the haori, wig, and hairdressing industries. Lord Semimaru was also a master of the biwa, and is revered as the "God of Music and the Arts."
