A beautifully soft and lightweight shawl with a gentle gradient of colors, fading from pale blue to white and then into a quiet greige tone.
This shawl carries a small story. It was originally given to my mother-in-law as a token of gratitude from a geiko whom she taught in Japanese traditional dance. Later it came into my hands, and I often wore it in early spring—draped over a kimono on a slightly chilly day, or wrapped loosely over a shirt when wearing Western clothes.
The fabric is very light and delicate, likely a blend of silk and fine wool or cashmere. Its texture is wonderfully soft and airy.
Because the material is so fine, there are a few small pulls that may have been caused by a nail or zipper, but overall it remains a lovely and wearable piece.
Last Mother’s Day my daughter gifted me a shawl in a very similar color palette, and so I decided it is time for this one to continue its journey to a new home.
It will be gently pressed and carefully packed in a reused gift box for shipping.
A soft and elegant piece for cool spring days.
A small story waiting for its next home.
