This five coloured hair brush, SHIKA -no Makifude is a traditional brush with a long history, originally made from the hair of sacred deer (shika in Japanese) at Kasuga Taisha in Nara for writing prayers and wishes.
The core is soft deer hair, and the outer bristles are dyed in five colors for a perfect balance.
Today, it is crafted by the historic brushmaker Akashiya, preserving centuries-old techniques. Using this brush is said to bring success in studies, prosperity in business, and harmony to the home?an auspicious choice for calligraphy and spiritual practice.
