This elegant toothpick case is handcrafted from upcycled vintage kimono fabric. The design features a striking combination of a deep blue background with vivid red plum blossoms at the center. The floral pattern is inspired by the legendary 18th-century Japanese artist Ogata Korin, a master of the Rinpa school. His signature style, known as "Korin-ume" (Korin Plum), is celebrated for its modern and minimalist aesthetic. Instead of detailed petals, the blossoms are rendered in charming, rounded shapes without outlines, creating a look that remains stylish and "kawaii" even today. By repurposing traditional kimono silk, this piece breathes new life into Japanese history, offering a perfect blend of classical art and contemporary utility.
