I Rescued an Obi for ¥1,100

I bought an obi.

Well, actually, I rescued one. 😊

A few days ago, I stopped by a secondhand kimono shop and found this obi among the many things they had for sale.

I think it may be Hakata-ori, a traditional type of Japanese woven textile, although I am not completely sure.

What caught my eye was how good the condition was. It looked hardly used, and the price was only ¥1,100.

How could I leave it there?

So I brought it home.

I Have a Weakness for Old Kimono

I have always liked looking at secondhand kimono and obi.

There is something exciting about finding a beautiful piece among things that someone no longer needs. I often wonder who wore it, where they wore it, and what kind of occasions it was used for.

With an obi like this, I don't really need a special reason to buy it.

If it is beautiful, in good condition, and only ¥1,100…

Well, that is already a pretty good reason. 😄

What Will I Wear It With?

I haven't decided yet what kimono I will wear this obi with.

It has a fairly simple and classic feeling, so I think it could work with several different kimono.

That is one of the fun things about collecting kimono pieces. Sometimes you buy something first, and only later discover what it looks best with.

For now, it is waiting in my kimono drawer.

And I am already imagining the next time I can wear it.

I think I made a pretty good rescue. 🌿
