A Little Ikkanbari in Progress

I’ve started working on a new little Ikkanbari piece.

For this project, I’m giving a simple bamboo basket a new life with Japanese paper, paste, and a brush.

A Little Ikkanbari in Progress

Little by little, I’ll cover the surface with paper and build up the layers by hand.

There’s something I really enjoy about Ikkanbari. A very ordinary object can slowly become something completely different through a few simple materials and a lot of patient handwork.

This is just the beginning.I’ll share more as this little piece takes shape.
